FROM JB:
I've been to the theatre many times but never the ballet. I had no idea what to expect with the Houston Ballet. I read some reviews about the annual production of The Nutcracker and found out this is a "new" version of the old show. What exactly did that mean? I had no idea. But I did find out that it is a $5 million production. For the price tag alone I was excited to see what was in store.
There was a lot of snow -- and I mean a lot... probably more than Canada has right now -- and it even snowed on the audience. Alright, it wasn't real snow but it certainly felt magical as it cascaded over our heads.

FROM JB:
The Minnesota couple sitting beside me struck up conversation during the intermission -- excited me because the guy had a flask in his jacket pocket and offered me a few swigs once we became buds. But on top of that they were also from a town not far from where I grew up in Canada. They had seen various Nutcracker performances over the years and said this one has been raved about and they couldn't wait to check it out.
